Image 011521 Embroidery Workshop

Join us for this two-part virtual workshop to learn about 18th-century fashion and how to make your own embroidered "pinball" (a spherical pincushion) based on original examples. Visitor Engagement Supervisor Meg Bowersox will lead a hands-on sewing circle to recreate embroidered pinballs inspired by the historical objects on display in our current special exhibition, When Women Lost the Vote: A Revolutionary Story, 1776-1807. And we’ll go behind the scenes of the exhibition to explore the featured textiles and embroidery with curatorial fellow Dr. Marcela Micucci.

This two-night class will occur from 7-8:30 p.m. on March 10 and 17. All participants will receive materials by mail prior to the start of the workshop to make their own pinball. No prior sewing or embroidery experience is required but would be helpful. Participants will need an internet connection, microphone, and webcam.

Registration is now closed.
